Beach Boys, Bob Marley Join Grammy Hall of Fame
Recordings by the Beach Boys, Bob Marley, Janis Joplin, James Brown and the Doors are among the songs that have been named as the 2010 inductees to the Grammy Hall of Fame, reports rollingstone.com.
Twenty-five recordings from various genres will be added to the Hall, which currently includes 851 songs altogether. Songs are eligible 25 years after their release and the picks are all approved by Recording Academy Trustees. The Beach Boys’ “California Girls,” The Doors’ “Riders on the Storm,” and Janis Joplin’s final album Pearl are among the recordings added to the collection.
“This year’s Grammy Hall of Fame inductees highlight a diverse array of masterpiece recordings that have had a profound impact on our musical history,” said a statement by Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow. “The selections are timeless staples that span six decades and represent a wide range of genres from comedy to rock, reggae, jazz and R&B. They all greatly deserve to be memorialized.”
