No One Wants to Be Burried Above Marilyn Monroe
The burial vault above where Marilyn Monroe’s remains lie was auctioned off, but failed to receive any bids, reports CBC. This is the second time the crypt of Richard Poncher has been placed on the auction block since August.
Poncher’s widow is selling the vault to pay off the mortgage on her home in Beverly Hills. He died 23 years ago and his remains will be moved to a nearby plot, she says.
The starting bid on auctioncause.com was $500,000, but Eric Gazin of the auction web site says the family was hoping to get $4 million.
The plot is at the Village Memorial Park Cemetery, where the remains of Farrah Fawcett and Dean Martin also lie. The spot next to Monroe was sold for $75,000 to Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in 1992.
