DMX Gets Violent After Charity Performance Canceled
DMX turned a charity concert into a riot this weekend when he arrived late for his scheduled performance and then proceeded to fight the security guards. After showing up nearly 90 minutes late for his set, DMX got into a shoving match in front of the stage with the security guards. Fans quickly joined the hubbub, pushing and chanting “DMX! DMX!”
Once he made it on stage, the sound system was turned off to keep him from performing.
The event promoters, American Charities, told fans DMX was not coming when he hadn’t arrived by 9:30 p.m., the time he was supposed to take the stage. Instead, DMX traipsed in at 11:00 expecting to perform.
He continued to force his way onto the stage until the security guards threatened to arrest him, to which DMX responded, “[Arrest me] for what?! You ain’t no police! I’ve been paid to perform.”
According to BallerStatus.com, DMX’s publicist Pam Pinnock suffered a minor concussion and face lacerations in the brawl.
BallerStatus reported the rumour that American Charities stopped DMX’s performance because they couldn’t afford his show rate. Rather than negotiating with his management, the promoters canceled the set entirely, therefore avoiding paying him the reported $15,000 rate for the night.
