Entourage Season 6×7 Review: No More Drama

Posted by Jeremy Singer on August 24th, 2009

17067_logoThis Week On Entourage:

After the mansion is broken into the night before, the cops can’t find any sign of an intruder. However the maid finds that all of the guys’ underwear have been stolen. Ari recommends to the guys that they call his “security guy.” Lloyd calls Drama to tell him that he won’t be needed on set today for Five Towns. So the boys advise him to go an apologize to Dan Coakley.

At his first day of work, Eric runs into a bit of trouble with a fellow colleague Scott who’s determined to sign Bob Saget- but he won’t return his calls. When Eric mentions at the meeting that he’s good friends of Saget and can give him a call, Scott tells Eric to stay out of his business. Drama tries to apologize to Coakley, but loses his temper once again on the phone when he talks about Jamie-Lynn. When Bob Saget agrees only to speak to Eric, and demands to have sex in Murray’s office in exchange to sign as a member, Scott decides to make Eric the one to forward the insane idea to Murray.

Vince and Turtle are out shopping for guns for protection, but are stumped by the 10-day waiting period. Lloyd reminds Drama that he is still forbidden from the TV set, so Drama decides to get some proof and tries to unsuccessfully secretly record Coakley speaking about Jamie-Lynn. Coakley tells him he’s not going to fire him, but that he’s going to torture him instead. When Eric reveals to Murray Bob Sagets’ terms, he agrees and gives Eric praise- adding that maybe tomorrow he can go for Christian Bale. When Drama brings home some guns and one of them goes off -shattering a window- Vince decides it’s time to call in Ari’s “security guy.”

Hookups:

None.

Celeb Cameos:

Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Bob Saget.

Episode Importance:

Stalker on the loose

Sure Vince isn’t too scared of the idea of a hot stalker, but it’s the first time ever that the house has been broken into (well excluding the time Dom broke into it to greet the boys). So the crew should definitley be amping up the place, and we’ll see just how intense Ari’s guy really is next week. Maybe build a moat, or make the place looking like a scene from MI:3. So locked down that Ethan Hunt would have nothing on it.

Because Arnold, as scary as he looks, seems to be losing his touch.

Overall:

I have to put it out there. I’m a huge fan of the show (or I wouldn’t be doing this blog), but I do have the balls to give critique when it’s necessary. I think everyone knows that this season has been strictly about character development- which is crucial for any show. But this was a weak episode. Probably the weakest this season.

It was just…bland.

I mean thank god for Bob Saget and his hilarious rants- but think about if Saget wasn’t making a cameo in the episode, it might just be one of the worst ever. It’s also so clear, without a doubt, that without Jeremy Piven (Ari Gold) on-screen for more than one scene, the show loses a considerable amount of points and appeal.

Now onto Vince. I know that most of us are sitting on the couch feeling that the fair-eyed star basically just looks brain-dead on the show with no story-line, but apprently he’ll be getting one with the remaining five episodes: a stalker alert. Wow. Not exactly what we’ve been waiting for. But it’s obvious that the Enzo ferrari film will begin filming next season, so that’s when we have to wait for Vince to get a real story-line.

On a more positive note, I did like seeing Eric hit a homerun at his first ever at-bat- signing Saget, wow. Looks like he’s got the right amount of charm, commitment and down-to-earth vibe that most hot-shot stars may look for in a manager- plus it always helps to have connections through Vince. And this new addition to Eric’s story-line could also present some other funny and interesting scenerios with him signing big clients.

And Saget? Well the guy is a rambling joker. We’ve seen him have a scene or two in past episodes of the series, but with an episode geared specifically for him, it was a delight seeing him bust people’s chops.

Rating:

2.5/5

Best Line(s):

1) Bob Saget bashing on the sleazy manager Scott who assures him that he’ll be around for Saget 24/7-

“That’s just what I want to look for when I’m sniffing a line of blow off her ass. Your fucking face.”

2) Ari talking to the boys about getting more security, after Arnold (their dog) failed to hear an intruder-

“He’s not deaf, he’s stoned.”

3) Turtle trying to tell Ari that they should get guns for protection instead-

“I have a good shot Ari…I think so, I’m a good free-throw shooter.”

Best moment(s):

1) Bob Saget in a meeting in Scott’s office, but tells Scott to leave his own office, because he wants to talk to Eric now.

2) Ari Gold sending dozens of pizzas to Eric during a staff meeting at his first day of work, with the message “good luck and that you are no a longer a pizza boy, you’re a pizza man.”

Next Week: The Sorkin Notes- Eric rethinks his status with both Sloan and Ashley. Ari must perform damage control due to Andrew Klein’s meltdown. The boys beef up security at the house.
