Eminem is poised to release his first new album in four years next Tuesday – so what does the multi-platinum selling rapper do for an encore?
According to NY Daily News, he gets himself in a shootout with the popular super hero, “The Punisher,” in the pages of a new comic book. Eminem reportedly admits that he’s a comic book geek.
“He was way more into ‘Punisher’ than I was,” said the “Eminem/The Punisher” writer Fred Van Lente. “I was brought in because of my knowledge of Eminem not ‘Punisher’.”
The first half of the story is printed in the current issue of XXL Magazine, which features a cover of Eminem sporting ‘The Punisher’s’ skull logo painted on his bare chest. Both chapters are available on the Marvel’s Comics’ Web site (marvel.com/eminem).
Van Lente was able to slip in a lot of references from the rapper’s previous albums – like lyrics from hit songs, “Kill You” and “Stan” – and the cover of the new one, “Relapse,” in stores on May 19.
“This is not your mother’s celebrity cameo,” said the Van Lente. “I could see him having a future in the Marvel Universe as as a hero…or a villain.
“I’m not sure what his preference would be.”
