Canadian Short Screenplay Competition Accepting Submissions For 2009!
The Canadian Short Screenplay Competition (CSSC) gives upcoming screenwriters from Canada and around the world an opportunity to launch a career in writing for film.
Now in its second year, CSSC is accepting screenplay submissions and due to last year’s overwhelming response, the competition deadline has been extended to Jan. 31, 2010. But applicants who enter their scripts by Sept. 30 will get to submit their work for a lower fee of $25. Competition founder and producer, David Cormican, says, “We accepted screenplays right down to Auld Lang Syne 2009.”
Unlike most writing competitions, CSSC awards the winning screenwriter with a professionally produced film, made possible by Year of The Skunk Productions and the competition’s sponsors, which include: Playback Magazine, Mind’s Eye Entertainment, Meridian Artists, InkTip.com, The Spoke Club, and art-search.com. The top three contestants will also receive cash prizes of up to $1000.
In 2008, CSSC received scripts from all around the globe, ranging from places like New Zealand and India. Last year’s top three scripts, “Seeing In the Dark” by Gordon Pengilly, “No Man’s Land” by David Carey and “Rusted Pyre” by Daniel Audet are currently in pre-production. All three films will be submitted to film festivals all over the world. Screenplays can easily be submitted online at www.yearoftheskunk.com/cssc. As the competition motto goes, “short Is better”!
