Jay LenoJay Leno is set to return to “The Tonight Show” after an overnight stay at a hospital last week.

According to NBC, the talk-show host was discharged from Providence St. Joseph Medical Centre in Burbank, Calif., on Friday and is “anxious to return to work Monday.”  Leno had checked himself into the hospital on Thursday after feeling ill at his office.

“Tonight Show” spokesperson Tracy St. Pierre told the New York Daily News that the 58-year-old entertainer had not suffered a heart attack or food poisoning, contrary to Internet speculation.

“He’s doing fine,” St. Pierre said, though she declined to provide further details on Leno’s ailment. “He was kidding around with the hospital staff and running his monologue jokes by the doctors and the nurses.”

Dick Guttman, Leno’s publicist, said doctors found that Leno’s illness wasn’t “symptomatic of anything serious.”

Leno’s hospitalization meant he had to cancel two of his “Tonight Show” tapings, the first time the host has missed a show due to illness in his 17-year run. Reruns were shown in their place on Thursday and Friday.
