Season 3 “American Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino is returning to the small screen with a new reality show on VH1.

According to the network, the as-yet-untitled series will track Fantasia’s everyday life as a recording artist and young single mother.

It’s not the first time the singer has given fans a peek into her personal life – she released an autobiography called “Life Is Not a Fairy Tale” in 2005 and later starred in the TV movie adaptation.

“Fantasia’s life has been an open book, but at 24 years old, her story has just begun,” exec producer Randy Barbato told the Hollywood Reporter. “We look forward to smashing expectations and revealing the fresh, funny and unexpected side of this one-of-a-kind country girl and superstar.”

Cameras are set to begin following the singer shortly for an early 2010 debut.

Since winning “Idol” in 2004, Fantasia has earned nine Grammy nominations and performed in the Broadway production of “The Colour Purple” as Celie, a role she will reprise when the production opens this summer in Washington, DC. She is currently working on her third album.
