Demi Lovato And David Archuleta Team Up For Tour

Posted by Ilan Mester on April 16th, 2009

David Archuleta“Camp Rock’s” Demi Lovato and “American Idol” alum David Archuleta are teaming up for a nationwide tour.

Lovato announced the tour on her website and Myspace page, and sited Archuleta as her “special guest,“ making it clear who’s opening for who.

The tour will kick off on June 21 in Hartford, Connecticut and will feature a 47-city trek. Jordan Pruitt and the group KSM will be joining the tour on select dates, according to MTV News.

“I’m so excited about headlining my own tour. I love life on the road. I’m in a different city every night, and it never gets old,” said Lovato to People.

She previously opened for the Jonas Brothers during their tour last summer. This summer tour will also coincide with Lovato’s planned sophomore album, due for release sometime in the summer, most likely during the end of her tour.

After all the shows are over, the Disney star will be filming the “Camp Rock” sequel.

Demi Lovato should do the openning act, period. Because if they put David Archuleta in the front line the screaming fans – will stay till the end of the show. However, if they put David Archuleta in the front line once his done people will start leaving same thing happened in AI Tour in Tacoma after David Archuleta some people are already starting leaving – for then only want to see David Archuleta.

Demi should be opening for David. I have to agree with the other commenter. A large amount of people will probably leave after David is finished and/or he will outshine her. I guarantee it. I have seen David many times in concert and he is no “opener”..he just finished a 6 week solo tour where every show was sold out.

It is the biggest joke that the skankiest group KSM is going on tour with talented Demi and David. They are so gross and can’t sing at all – its torture watching (listening!) to them! Is Disney so hard up for talented groups that they have to send these losers!

  • c

I will go only because of David, but I think it would be rude to leave until Demi is finished.

  • Peter Pan

Whoever is making a decision and managing of David Archuleta music career is not doing a great job he should be fired. What are they thinking doing an opening act for Demi Lovato it just laughable – It’s okay to be an opening act of someone who is already a big star like John Mayers, Christina Aguilera or other big star Beyonce but not this Demi Lovato no offense meant but David work hard his butt off to where he is right now with the support of his fans.

David I would suggest to learn the business as much as you can and start managing you own career wisely and don’t be afraid to make decisions on your own for this thing comes only once in a life time so you might as well do it yourself wisely. If you ever screwed it up so be it – at least you tried your best and don’t have to blame anyone just follow your instinct.

I think David Archuleta has proven himself and he has an amazing voice plus he is really amazing in LIVE CONCERT plus he has A FANTASTIC LOYAL FANS ALL OVER THE WORLD WHO LOVED HIM AND WHO WILL SUPPORT HIM ALL THE WAY.

David listen your fans will do anything to help you so don’t be afraid – We are here for you in a long haul.

    Your friend,
    Peter Pan

Truthfully, I think Demi’s a nice girl and has a good voice at times, but I’m only going for David. If David was only singing one song, I’d probably only stay for that. But because he’s singing 10 songs I will stay. But on David’s last solo tour he wasn’t near me very much, so I didn’t get to see him. But one of the places he’s going to be is right around the corner from me, so why not? I’m glad David’s opening, because truthfully I think most of the people are there for him. If Demi opened, people would be like “Wait a sec..” and probably start leaving. I truthfully think they knew this as well…which is why they’re making it so clear how many songs he’s going to be singing.
And I agree, I think he should be opening for someone bigger. Demi Lovato is only known by most Disney Channel watchers or Jonas Brother fans, when I say David Archuleta around people, 99%$ of the time they say something about Crush or American Idol. If I say Demi Lovato, like I just did to someone in my household, they say, “Who’s that?” I think he should be opening for someone like John Mayer, like Peter Pan mentioned. But just like on the AI tour, people went for David A, and then when he was finished , it was amazing how many people left. He’s made a lasting impact on people all over the world, and they’d drive hours just to see him sing 2 songs.

But in the long run, what’s done is done. And I will go see David, whether he sings 2 songs or 20. I’ll support him in every way and get there no matter who’s going to be the main performer. Even though I think that he is way too talented to just be an “opener” for someone who, career wise, is lower than his status.

I heartily sgree with all of you he’s a real find and the real thing. But sometimes you have to take the bitter with the sweet. It’s only 3 months out of a long carrer. Let’s just hold on ’til people will be standing in line to be his opening act. And I think it’ll happen before he’s of legal drinking aqe.

I disagree wholeheartedly with the comments here. I believe both Demi and David are extremely talented people but neither are established enough to be making any demands on who they open for or have to perform with. Honestly, I am quite sure that the both of them are honored to be touring with one another, otherwise this collaboration would have never came to be.

I don’t see much discontent from the Demi camp, but many of the Archie fans seem to be unhappy with the situation. I simply do not understand this. Demi Lovato, as new as she may be, has a substantial fan base. I believe the David fans may underestimate the number of fans Demi has gained over just the past months. It should be a blessing to expose the talent that is David Archuleta to a large and thriving new fanbase. Likewise, Demi too is lucky to be able to perform for a growing new fanbase.

Anyone talking about leaving before Demi starts should be ashamed of themselves. Respect for all performers is important for tours such as these. I am sure David fans would be furious if Demi fans were to boo or “take a break” when David is performing. It would only make sense that Demi fans, and of course Demi herself, would be insulted if David fans just took off!

I apologize for the long ramble/wall of text, but I’m just trying to say it is really a win-win situation for both Demi and David and their respective fanbases. Like I said before, they are both extremely talented people, I give you my word. So please just stop the bickering, buy some tickets, and enjoy the show.

I think both Demi and David are great singers. I don’t understand how people can say that they are leaving after David finished performing. Its rude to do such thing but, Demi Fans will support all the way!
