Each time I have viewed Taylor Swift singing on television I have felt nothing by embarrassment for her and country music in general. Please someone help her because it is really becoming quite embarrassing all the way around.

@ Erika — you don’t have to go to her My Space, of course all of the little teeny-boppers that worship her come out in droves there. Tell you what — go Google “Taylor Swift can’t sing” or “Taylor Swift sucks” and you will find that the over 20 crowd invariably and unanimously agree that although she is pretty and writes catchy songs — the girl just CANNOT sing without the help of studio mixing!!

Peter Pan? LOL okay, Obviously you are in the minority who believe Miss Swift can’t sing. Look at her myspace she has millions of fans who say otherwise, so does her record sells.

Taylor has a beautiful tone to her voice and her voice is pregnant with emotion – one soft inflection of hers communicates more feeling than 10 minutes of shouted lyrics.

Peter pan do you realize ‘Love Story’ has made history? It’s had the most downloads on iTunes in history. It’s also gone #1 in just about every country from Australia, Germany, Italy, France, Netherlands, China, Japan, Philipines, the list goes on… ‘Fearless’ has been released to those countries with little to no promotion.

Right now it’s sitting on at least 5 billboard charts in the US alone, and I’m lovin’ it! Miss Swift is awesome!

I respect your opinion but she can’t sing she is over-rated.

Check the YouTube watch her sing in CMA – LOVE STORY LIVE no offense I was completely shocked they just over promoted this gal can’t sing at all.

Obviously you were not reading closely Ashley. Re-read “Although barely 20, Taylor has cemented her place in the country-pop world” There is nothing wrong with remixing and Taylor has cemented her place is country-pop, if you want to cast stones at Taylor you better grab a handful and hope you don’t have to throw a few at the artist you call your favorite because a lot of artist are remixing, like Sugarland, Carrie Underwood, and yes, before you yell no, take a listen to Carries ‘Before He Cheats’ remix that her and her lable sent to all the top 40 pop radio stations. Why do you think that particular song sold so many back in 2007? It wasn’t from just country radio or sells. Google: “Before He Cheats” Rythmic Radio Mix By Carrie Underwood and take a listen.

Anyway getting back to Taylor Swift, I think you’re right on the money Irene and we can plan on seeing Miss Swift around for a very long time to come.

Good article about Taylor. But one thing I disagree though.

Even though Taylor didn’t sell out for a record deal back then, she has been selling out after she has gotten big with her debut album – the countless horrible remixes just to court pop audience and get more sales. I don’t believe one bit that “she just wants to share her music” with the pop audience. If so, she should’ve stick to the original version no matter what. Just my opinion.

This might actually hurt her in the long run as more people are unhappy with the remixes and tend to write off her talent and group her together with other teeny-boppers like Miley.

Totally agree with the article and the 2 posts above mine.

People assume Taylor went the formulaic route of peddling her looks and having third party song-writers pen her songs but what they don’t realize is that the dynamic duo of Taylor/Scott B paid their dues on the tour and radio circuit building up a grassroots movement of supporters.

what looks like instant success the past 1 year was a result of years of smart decision making, hard-work and honing of genuine talent laying the groundwork.

Y’know, a lot can be learned from this. Scott B had the sense to let Taylor be the best singer/songwriter she was meant to be, and gee look what happens.

Corporations in the US are stifling the same kind of creativity and innovation on a daily basis, blaming “underperformers” that they were afraid of for the companies’ failures, and taking bonuses in the form of gov’t bailout $$$ for themselves.

Scott B deserves to give himself a huge bonus. Well deserved to both of these music stars!

Well done, Irene, and entirely true. If anything, Taylor is under-rated right now. It’s hard for the media to know what to do with this creative prodigy who looks like a super model. It hasn’t yet fully computed. But it will.
