New Addition To Twilight Sequel
A new vampire has been cast for Twilight’s upcoming sequel.
Welsh actor Michael Sheen (The Queen and Frost/Nixon), is set to take on the role of Aro in New Moon. He will join the entire Twilight cast, including Robert Pattinson, as well as new cast addition Dakota Fanning.
In New Moon, 40-year-old Sheen will play Aro, the leader of an Italian vampire clan called the Volturi. The Volturi are slightly ominous in Meyer’s book, therefore it will be up to Sheen to add the menacing factor to New Moon. This role is reminiscent of Sheen’s role in Underworld, where he played Lucian, the leader of the werewolves race. In Underworld, the werewolves were dire enemies of the vampires, so Sheen will have to switch teams in the sequel.
According to perezhilton.com, director Chris Weitz confirmed Sheen’s casting and said he had ‘aggressively’ pursued the actor.
“Michael’s role is so important because he’s the head of all vampires,” he said. “Aro is, on the surface, a very gracious and friendly vampire, but beneath that he is a tremendous threat.”
Sheen is also reportedly collecting a big paycheck for New Moon.
