A President’s Best Friend Obamas Welcome New Puppy
The White House welcomes it’s latest addition, the presidential pooch.
According to E! News, President Barack Obama and the first family welcomed a 6-month-old Portuguese water dog on Saturday. The dog is named “Bo” due to Michelle Obama’s late father being nicknamed Diddley, as in Bo Diddley, and because their cousin has a cat named Bo.
The dog was promised to the girls during the election as a gift, whether or not dad made it to the White House. On election night in Chicago, Obama said to his kids, “I love you both more than you can imagine. And you have earned the new puppy that’s coming with us to the White House.”
Since the Obama’s did not get the dog from a shelter–as they thought they might at one point– the Obamas will instead make a donation to a Humane Society.
