GhostbustersThe Ghostbuster boys are back in town for a third trip as the supernatural exterminators.

According to MTV news, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis have all given the nod to the third Ghostbusters installment- the second sequel for the 1980’s comedy movie. “We’re all going to be in it in different kinds of roles,” said Ramis about how the original actors will be taking part in the modern version of the horror comedy.

Ramis also hinted that there will be a newer generation of Ghostbusters on-screen as well. “We’re going to be the sage mentors. There are going to be young Ghostbusters.”

No fingers have been pointed yet to who this new-school squad will feature, but with Jud Apatow signed on as producer, the rumor mill is swirling- saying that comedians Paul Rudd and Seth Rogan will follow too.

Ramis who played Dr. Egon Spengler as well as co-wrote the first two films, also discussed the progress of the script. “Gene [Stupnitsky] and Lee [Eisenberg], both of whom I mentored, are now writing the new ‘Ghostbusters’. I’m consulting with them, as is Dan Aykroyd and [original director] Ivan Reitman.”

The script is expected to commence early summer, while the production is eyed to be kicked off by late fall 2009.
