‘Two And A Half Men,’ ‘Big Bang Theory’ Renewed
CBS has announced multi-season pickups for their juggernaut sitcoms “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory.”
“Two and a Half Men,” the most-watched comedy on TV, has been renewed for another three years, ensuring it will remain on air through 2012.
Now in its sixth season, the series stars Charlie Sheen as a carefree womanizer whose hedonistic lifestyle is interrupted when his straitlaced brother and young nephew move in with him.
The show averages 15.4 million viewers per episode and is also the top-rated show in syndication.
In the same deal with Warner Bros., CBS has picked up “The Big Bang Theory” for another two years.
The comedy, now in its second season, follows the geektastic exploits of a group of physicists and reunites “Roseanne” co-stars Sara Gilbert and Johnny Galecki.
Both “Men” and “Big Bang” were created by Chuck Lorre (”Dharma & Greg,” “Roseanne”) and have consistently scored strong ratings for CBS on Monday nights. Whereas other networks have been hit by declining audience numbers, viewership for CBS’s Monday-night comedy lineup is up 13 percent compared to last season.
