Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Is Newest ‘Melrose’ Resident
Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is returning to series television with a lead role on “Melrose Place,” the CW’s update of the popular ’90s primetime soap.
The singer-actress, who landed her breakthrough role on “7th Heaven” in 2002, will play Melrose Place’s newest resident, Violet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the character is a small-town girl with a manipulative side – and a big secret.
Simpson-Wentz, 24, joins previously announced cast members Michael Rady, who will play aspiring filmmaker Jonah, and Katie Cassidy, who will play ambitious publicist Ella.
The role marks Simpson-Wentz’s first regular TV spot since taking a four-year hiatus from acting to pursue her music career. Fans can keep an eye out for her guest appearance on the March 18 episode of “CSI: NY,” in which she and musician-husband Pete Wentz play Bonnie-and-Clyde wannabes.
The couple recently had their first child together, Bronx Mowgli.
