dakota fanningDakota Fanning may have only just turned 15, but the pint-sized actress is already attached to two high-profile pics slated to go into production this year.

First up is “New Moon,” the sequel to the novel-turned-movie, box-office hit “Twilight.” The studio, Summit Entertainment, has confirmed that Fanning will play Jane, an enigmatic, powerful vampire who is a member of the Volturi, an organized coven of blood-suckers.

Filming is slated to begin this month in Vancouver for a November release.

Variety reports that Fanning is also in negotiations to star in “The Runaways,” which chronicles the real-life rise-and-fall of the all-girl 1970s rock group of the same name.

Fanning will play Runaways lead singer Cherie Currie, who was also 15 when she made her debut with the band.

“Twilight” star Kristen Stewart has already signed on to play guitarist Joan Jett, who went on to solo success following the group’s breakup.

The film, which will be written and directed by Floria Sigismondi, is scheduled to begin production this spring.

Fanning recently appeared in the sci-thriller “Push” and voiced the title character in the animated fantasy adventure “Coraline.”
