Coolio Arrested At L.A. Airport Over Drug Allegations
Authorities say Grammy-winning rapper Coolio has been released on bail after his arrest at Los Angeles International Airport.
The 45-year-old rapper, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivy Jr., was arrested and booked on felony narcotics possession after being stopped at a Southwest Airlines terminal checkpoint on Friday morning.
He was released after posting $10,000 bail.
Coolio’s manager, Susan Haber, said she had not spoken with her client since the incident and could not comment.
The rapper had been scheduled to perform with Tone Loc in Tulsa Friday night but was a no-show after the arrest, according to tulsaworld.com.
It’s not the recording artist’s first run-in with the law — he was arrested in June on an outstanding misdemeanour warrant for driving with a suspended licence.
Coolio gained fame with his 1995 single “Gangsta’s Paradise” and recently appeared on the U.K. TV series “Celebrity Big Brother.”
