Kelly Clarkson, Kanye West Booked For ‘Idol’
Kelly Clarkson is returning to her “American Idol” roots with a performance on the reality competition show next week.
Clarkson, who won the show’s inaugural season in 2002, will appear during Wednesday’s elimination show to sing her chart-topping single “My Life Would Suck Without You.”
Her fourth album, “All I Ever Wanted,” hits stores Tuesday.
The two-time Grammy winner won’t be the only special guest taking the “Idol” stage that night. Kanye West will make his debut on the show with a performance of “Heartless” off his latest album, “808s & Heartbreak.”
He and Clarkson will join Mariah Carey, Prince, Gwen Stefani as some of the top artists who have appeared on the show in the past as mentors or performers.
The Top 13 “Idol” contestants are set to tackle Michael Jackson tunes during Tuesday’s live performance show. As usual, the singer who receives the least number of votes will be sent packing the next night.
