A block-long stretch of Manhattan’s West 53rd Street was temporarily renamed after U2 on Tuesday.

The band was joined by New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and fans as the “U2 Way” street sign on Broadway was unveiled.

The block’s name change celebrates the Irish band’s unprecedented week-long stint on CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” which tapes in the nearby Ed Sullivan Theater.

Bloomberg also presented each U2 member with his own copy of the sign at the ceremony.

In other U2 news, the band’s 12th studio album, “No Line on the Horizon,” may have hit stores Tuesday, but fans can already expect new material later this year.

In an interview with The New York Times, the band revealed that they plan to release a “companion” album to “No Line” that will have a “more meditative and processional tone.”
