‘Jonas Brothers: The 3D Experience’ Tanks At Box Office
Ticket sales of the band’s new concert movie, “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Experience,” is much lower than expected.
The movie, featuring the star-studded brothers, was expected to bring in an estimated $30 to $40 million dollars, and only racked in sales of around $12.7 million over the course of opening weekend.
The three brothers even scheduled surprise personal appearances at random screenings across the country, even showing up at their home theatre at the Palisades Center.
“We used to go see movies here all the time, so the fact that we’re coming back here is really, really, really cool,” Nick Jonas said at a news conference at the Westchester County Airport before the surprise visit.
Unfortunately, The Jonas Brothers failed to reproduce any of the success their family channel friend Miley Cyrus experienced. Cyrus’ “Hannah Montana 3D” earned almost three times as much as the boys production in its opening weekend – and it was in about half as many theatres. The movie also failed to grab the #1 spot at the Box Office, as that honor went to Tyler Perry’s “Medea”.
