Seth Green has joined the cast of Walt Disney Pictures’ “Mars Needs Moms,” a big-screen adaptation of the children’s novel by Berkeley Breathed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the performance-capture movie follows a boy named Milo (Green) who goes on a mission to rescue his mom after she is kidnapped by aliens.

Joan Cusack will play the mom, while Mindy Sterling (who co-starred with Green in the “Austin Powers” movies) will play the alien leader of Mars. Dan Fogler will play Milo’s friend Gribble.

Simon Wells, whose credits include “The Prince of Egypt” and “An American Tail: Fievel Goes West,” adapted the screenplay along with Wendy Wells and will direct.

Green will next appear in the comedy “Old Dogs” opposite Robin Williams and John Travolta. He also continues to work on “Robot Chicken,” the Emmy-winning stop-motion series he co-created.
