Mobile Take New Drummer On The Road
Montreal rockers Mobile will be joined by new member Martin Lavallee when they kick off their Sound of Fiction tour today (Wednesday) in Quebec City.
The band spent the past few weeks searching for a replacement for drummer Pierre-Marc Hamelin, who is trading a career in music for one in law.
Guitarist Christian “Criq” Brais broke the news on the band’s MySpace blog on Feb. 19. “It is with regret that I bring you this news — Pierre, our drummer and most importantly our friend is leaving Mobile,” he wrote.
“Pierre has decided after much thought, that the love for playing music isn’t there anymore and that he wants to go back to an earlier passion — law. It was a tough decision for him and a big surprise for us. Its also been hard for us to see him go. After all, we formed the band in his parents’ basement in Lorraine where we all grew up.
“I, and the rest of the band wish him all the best as he continues on down his path.”
Brais also posted a video of Lavallee in action to introduce him to fans. You can view the clip here.
Mobile are touring the country in support of last year’s “Tales from the City.” The 23-city run wraps April 4 in Saskatoon and will feature opening acts Inward Eye and/or Bend Sinister for all dates. The exception is Toronto on March 12, when the band will be accompanied by Hinter, Default and My Darkest Days.
