‘Friday The 13th’ Scores At Box Office
“Friday The 13th” didn’t run into any bad luck at the box office on opening day, taking in $19.3 million to debut at No. 1.
The horror reboot — which bowed in 3,105 theatres on, fittingly, Friday the 13th — scored the best domestic opening day ever for an R-rated horror-slasher movie, according to Variety.
The previous holder of that title was 2007’s “Saw IV,” which grossed $14.8 million on its opening day.
Last weekend’s No. 1 movie, “He’s Just Not That Into You,” raked in $5 million to land in second place, while the Liam Neeson-starring “Taken,” in its third Friday, took in $4.7 million for the No. 3 spot.
“Confessions of a Shopaholic” opened with $4.4. million for fourth place, while the week’s other new wide release, “The International,” debuted with $2.6 million for sixth place.
