‘Thriller’ To Be Reborn As Stage Musical
Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” is coming to Broadway.
Producer James L. Nederlander has acquired the rights to create a stage musical based on the iconic John Landis-directed music video, which debuted in 1983.
The production will feature songs from Jackson’s hit albums “Thriller” and “Off the Wall,” with producers saying that the artist himself will participate in the show’s creative process.
“The Nederlanders and Michael Jackson represent live theatre and musical excellence, so let the music begin,” Jackson spokesman Tohme Tohme said in a statement.
Further details about the cast and crew are pending.
The 14-minute “Thriller” is considered one of the most memorable — and expensive — music videos ever produced and is noted for its zombie dance sequence.
