Alex Trebek To Host ‘Prime Minister’
“Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek has signed on to help find “Canada’s Next Great Prime Minister.”
The Emmy Award-winning Canadian native will host the reality competition show when it begins a new season March 18, the CBC announced Friday.
The program will feature four young contestants who must prove their political chops in front of a panel of former Canadian prime ministers: Paul Martin, Brian Mulroney, Kim Campbell and Joe Clark.
Semi-finalists were announced Friday at the official show website here.
The eventual winner will receive a $50,000 cash prize and a six-month paid internship with Magna International, The Dominion Institute and the Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program.
“I’m honoured to take part in a show of this calibre and share the stage with this esteemed panel of prime ministers and young leaders in the making,” Trebek said in a statement.
Before making his “Jeopardy!” debut in 1984, Trebek hosted numerous other game shows including “The $128,000 Question” and “To Tell the Truth.”
