Patrick Swayze Checks Into Hospital With Pneumonia
Patrick Swayze has been hospitalized for pneumonia, according to E News.
Abbe Rave, president of A&E announced at a panel on Friday that the actor “has checked himself into the hospital this morning for observation after coming down with pneumonia. As anyone who has had a friend or family member that has undergone treatment for cancer knows, chemotherapy can take a toll on your immune system. Patrick did want me to tell you that he is very sorry he couldn’t be at the panel this morning, but he plans to get back to promoting ‘The Beast’ as soon as he is back on his feet.”
“The Beast”- Swayze’s new show- is set to debut Thursday on A&E.
In his first interview since he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last January, the actor spoke candidly about his battle in an exclusive sit-down with Barbara Walters for ABC News. The stage-four cancer has severely altered his life, he said, and it may progress more quickly than previous reports suggested.
“Two years seems likely, if you’re going to believe statistics,” Swayze said in the interview of his life expectancy. “I dropped about 20 pounds in the blink of an eye. And then when you see it in the mirror, when all of a sudden you pull your eyes down, and the bottom of your eyes go yellow and jaundice sets in — then you know something’s wrong.”
