The doctors at County General Hospital aren’t ready to say goodbye just yet.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has extended the final season of “ER” by three episodes after reaching a deal with executive producer John Wells.

The Emmy Award-winning medical drama will now have a 22-episode final season.

Created in 1994, “ER” is NBC’s second longest-running series after “Law & Order” and has been consistently winning its 10 p.m. Thursday slot.

NBC has also ordered six episodes of Wells’ new drama “Police,” which will star Tom Everett Scott, Regina King, Benjamin McKenzie and Kevin Alejandro as a group of police officers in Los Angeles.
