Some of the biggest names in hip-hop are throwing a party in honour of U.S. President-elect Barack Obama.

T.I., Young Jeezy, LL Cool J and mogul Russell Simmons will host the Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 19, the night before Obama’s inauguration.

The black-tie gala, featuring the music of DJ D-Nice, will both celebrate Obama’s historic inauguration and recognize the musicians’ contributions in encouraging the largest young adult vote in history.

Proceeds will go to the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, a non-profit group which provides education advocacy and other empowerment programs for young adults across the U.S.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z, a long-time Obama supporter, will celebrate the inauguration with a special show of his own in Washington, D.C. that night.

“In Concert On the Eve of Change” will take place at the 1,847-capacity Warner Theatre and will feature the rapper performing with his full band.
