Bands Team Up For Suicide Prevention Tour
Alkaline Trio, Anberlin and Single File are joining forces for the first-ever Pick up the Phone Tour, which was created to raise awareness of suicide prevention and mental health issues.
The bands will visit college campuses across the U.S. beginning in April, with tour dates and venues to be announced early this year.
Created in partnership with 1-800-Suicide, Postsecret.com and non-profit group To Write Love On Her Arms, the tour will feature an on-site mental health fair at each venue offering topic-specific resources.
The fair will also recruit volunteers to be trained and staff local peer-to-peer hotlines and online crisis support centres at the college.
“Suicide is a very permanent solution to what may be a temporary problem and it feels great to be a part of something that is purely there to help people in times of desperation,” said Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba in a statement.
“If one life is saved because of the hotline, then I consider it a success and we’re very proud to in any way be a part of something so positive.”
Fans will also be able to catch live performances from the tour at Synclive.com.
