Sean “Diddy” Combs: hip-hop artist, fashion mogul, reality TV producer, fragrance creator and now — lawyer?

Well, not exactly — People magazine reports that Combs has scored a guest-starring role on “CSI: Miami” as defence attorney Derek Powell.

He was in Manhattan Beach, just outside Los Angeles, this week to shoot his spot on the hit CBS show.

Combs explained to People that he met with CBS executives and told them, “I don’t want to play no musician, I don’t want to play a criminal – none of those stereotypical things. I want to play a lawyer.”

He added that he was happy to be on one of “the biggest shows in the world” and revealed that series star David Caruso took him under his wing on set.

The episode with Diddy will air in February 2009.

Combs is building up an impressive acting resume — he appeared on the big screen in 2002’s “Monster’s Ball” and starred in the critically acclaimed TV remake of “A Raisin in the Sun,” as well as the Broadway revival of the play.

He recently told E! he is hoping to guest-star on “30 Rock.”
