Police are currently investigating Stephan Scoggins, rapper Kanye West’s cousin, in a probe into the death of West’s mother, Dr. Donda West.
Scoggins took care of Dr. West the day before her death. State officials are investigating Scoggins, a registered nurse, according to the Los Angeles Times.
West spent her last hours breathing heavily and reporting pain in both her throat and chest according to the coroner’s report. A friend later found West cold and unresponsive in her bed. She was pronounced dead at Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center.
Kanye’s mother had been advised by another surgeon not to go through with the operation because it would put her at risk for a heart attack. The staff members at the clinic where West’s operation took place also advised against going home.
West chose to come home anyways, under Scoggins’ care, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Scoggins oversaw Dr. West while she was recuperating from the plastic surgery that would later lead to her death.
