Live Earth India, which was slated to take place Dec. 7 in Mumbai, has been called off due to the recent terror attacks in the city.

Organizers of the concert, which was aimed at promoting environment awareness, sent out a statement Friday night to say the event was cancelled.

“Everyone involved with Live Earth India … is stunned and saddened by the tragic events of the past few days,” read the statement.

The three-day siege in Mumbai, which saw gunmen attack two hotels and other major sites in the city, left 195 dead, including two Canadians, and many more injured.

“We will continue to work for solutions to the climate crisis for the good of the people of India and around the world,” the statement continued. “But for now, our thoughts and our prayers are with the victims of this terrible attack, with the bereaved, with the people of Mumbai and with everyone in India.”

The Mumbai concert would have been the followup to last year’s Live Earth concert, which spanned four continents and featured 150 international acts.
