Sarah McLachlan To Get Humanitarian Juno
Sarah McLachlan will receive a special Juno next year for her humanitarian work.
The Halifax native will be bestowed with the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award, named in honour of the late CHUM Limited founder, at the Juno gala dinner and awards presentation on March 28.
Among McLachlan’s charitable efforts is her involvement with several charities that help give underprivileged kids music lessons and mentorship.
She also founded the Lilith Fair touring festival in 1997, which promoted women in music and raised more than $7 million for charity after three years.
McLachlan, who also received the Order of Canada in 2000, will become the fourth person to be given the Allan Water Humanitarian Award, following Bruce Cockburn, Tom Jackson and Paul Brandt.
The night after McLachlan receives her honour, the televised Juno Awards show will take place at Vancouver’s General Motors Place.
