‘Nutcracker’ Returns To Canadian Theatres
Get ready for dancing bears on your cinema screen.
The National Ballet of Canada announced Tuesday that it will simulcast a matinee of “The Nutcracker” in 79 theatres across Canada next month.
The special showing follows the success of last year’s inaugural presentation on 69 screens.
“The Nutcracker Live” hits Cineplex theatres from British Columbia to Quebec on Dec. 13, beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
The ballet, which is running from Dec. 6 to 28 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto, will be captured by six high-definition cameras and transmitted live via satellite to the participating theatres.
“The Nutcracker” is set to the music of Tchaikovsky and centres on a girl’s journey to a winter wonderland, where she encounters the Sugar Plum Fairy and other colourful characters.
Bravo! will air the ballet at a later date.
