The nominees for CBC Radio 3’s 2008 Bucky Awards have been announced.

Leading the field are Fucked Up, Kathleen Edwards and Chad VanGaalen with three nods each.

The awards, now in their third year, honour Canadian artists in categories that range from the conventional to the more unusual.

For example, Fucked Up are nominated for best live act and best collaboration for their track “Royal Swan” featuring Katie Stelmanis, but their vocalist Pink Eyes is also up for sexiest musician.

Edwards is up for artist’s naughtiest bits for “Singing Naked Men,” while “The Cheapest Key” earned her nods for future classic and best lyric (”You always play me in the cheapest key”).

VanGaalen is nominated for future classic and best video for “Willow Tree” and “Molten Light,” respectively, as well as best advice from an artist for his tips on “making music from junk.”

Other artists who received multiple nods include Crystal Castles, Woodhands and Cadence Weapon.

Voting is open from now until Nov. 28 at CBC Radio 3’s website here.

The winners will be unveiled during a special live broadcast on Dec. 17.
