The original lineup of Jane’s Addiction is reuniting for a one-off show.

The concert at Los Angeles’ La Cita Bar tonight (Thursday) will be the band’s first performance together since their four-song showing at April’s inaugural NME Awards, where they were presented with the Godlike Genius Award for their achievements in introducing American alternative music to the mainstream.

It will also be the first full concert with the original members — singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins — in 17 years.

In August, Farrell was asked by Altitude about the possibility of a full-fledged Jane’s Addiction reunion, to which he replied, “There’s as much likelihood of that happening as there being commercial space flight — but there’s a chance of that, right?”

He explained that the NME Awards reunion was “like having a girlfriend that you have always been in love with and you’ll always be in love with, but you don’t quite get along with. You’re still in love with her and every time you get together, you end up throwing food at each other.”

The band previously reunited in 1997 and 2001, but Avery did not take part those times.
