The 2008 American Music Award nominations were announced Tuesday, with Alicia Keys nabbing five nods to lead the pack.

Close behind were Coldplay and the Eagles with four nods each.

All three artists, along with Chris Brown and Lil Wayne, are up for Artist of the Year.

Keys, who released her third studio album, “As I Am,” last November, is also nominated for Favourite Pop/Rock Artist and Album and Favourite Soul/R&B Artist and Album.

Coldplay’s nods are rounded out by Favorite Band Duo or Group, Favourite Alternative/Rock Artist and Favourite Pop/Rock Album for “Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends.”

AMA winners will be decided by online voting at www.amavote.com until Nov. 7.

The 36th annual awards show, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will air live from Los Angeles Nov. 23 on ABC.

Performers include Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Taylor Swift, the Pussycat Dolls, New Kids On The Block, the Jonas Brothers and P!nk.
