New Pornographers Frontman Preps New Solo Album
New Pornographers frontman Carl Newman is set to release his second solo album, “Get Guilty,” on Jan. 20.
Recorded under the name A.C. Newman, the record is the follow-up to 2004’s “Slow Wonder” and features guest appearances from Jon Wurster of indie band Superchunk, singer-songwriter Nicole Atkins and pop duo Mates of State.
Fans will get a preview of the new material when Newman plays Brooklyn’s The Bell House on Nov. 15.
Newman was previously a member of indie rock bands Superconductor and Zumpano before joining The New Pornographers. He has released four studio albums with the Vancouver-based Pornographers, with the most recent being last year’s “Challengers.”
The band is coming off a handful of summer festival dates, including Calgary’s Virgin Festival, and will be in Australia and New Zealand next month for a string of shows.
