Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are teaming up once again.

Disney announced Wednesday that Depp will play the Mad Hatter in Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” which will be a live-action/CG reworking of the classic Lewis Carroll tale.

Australian actress Mia Wasikowska (HBO’s “In Treatment”) had previously been cast as Alice, while Matt Lucas (”Little Britain USA”) will play the dual roles of Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

Burton is shooting the film in 3-D and will combine performance-capture imagery, similar to last year’s “Beowulf,” with live-action footage.

The film is set for a March 2010 release date.

Depp and Burton first worked together in 1990’s “Edward Scissorhands” and have since racked up a number of collaborations, including “Sleepy Hollow,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and, most recently, “Sweeney Todd.”
