Robert Smith, a Toronto-based actor known for his portrayal of a loud Scotsman in T.V. beer commercials was sentenced Monday to 20 months in jail on child porn charges, reports CBC.

Smith, who appears in commercials for Alexander Keith’s, was convicted of possessing and distribting child pornography.

Police raided his home in 2006, where they found more than 1100 child porn files on two computers and 14 CDs.

The Crown sought a two-year maximum sentence while Smith’s defence argued for a minimum 18 months.

Smith, a father of two children, pleaded guilty in May to two counts of possession of child porn and one count for making it available.
