GamersGate announced today the worldwide digital download premiere of the Gold Edition of Making History: The Calm & the Storm. The game, developed by Muzzy Lane Software, is scheduled for release on July 28 and will sell for $19.99.

“Gamers and press alike raved about the original game when it was released last year and the Gold Edition is set to raise the bar even further. We can’t wait to offer this premium title to our existing and new customers”, said Theodore Bergquist, CEO of GamersGate, in a press release from the company.

Making History: The Calm & the Storm is a turn-based strategy game. Players must strategize how to protect their chosen nation during a time of crisis. The Gold version of the game includes the Making History Game editor, expanded game play and a new scenario focusing on Germany’s rise to power.

The goal of the game is not to continue to replay history, but to create your own historical scenario. The historical starting points for each scenario are familiar, but from that point players experience open-ended game play. Virtually any country is playable across the game’s bundled scenarios, and there are user-developed scenarios also available for download.
