Canadian Idol Recap – Wednesday
The wait is finally over and the top 10 is revealed on tonight’s results show.
Ben asks Sass what the eliminated singers going home tonight should take from this experience. “The actual amount of effort it takes to be a performer, you guys will go home and remember it takes an enormous amount of work,” says Sass. And to get beyond the top 10, Jake has some choice words. “First, pick great songs. Secondly, be memorable. Thirdly, be loveable and make an impact.”
After a recap of the last three weeks, Ben kicks off the results with Martin Kerr and Mark Day from Monday and Gary Morissette and Drew Wright from Tuesday. And the first one to make it to the top 10 is Mark Day. Martin Kerr is eliminated.
From Tuesday’s show, Drew Wright becomes the second member of the top 10 and Gary is eliminated. “I’m going to be doing some shows, so you better come and watch me,” says Gary.
Ben brings Mookie Morris and Theo Tams to the stage from Monday’s show and Earl Stevenson and Katherine St-Laurent from Tuesday’s show. Ben announces that Mookie is through to the top 10, leaving Theo Tams waiting in the wings. He turns to Earl and Katherine. And Earl is the next member of the top ten, leaving Theo and Katharine with Ben on stage.
Theo Tams and Katherine St-Laurent are also through, leaving four spots left. From Monday’s show, Omar Lunan and Amberly Theissen are brought to the stage. From Tuesday’s show, Katelyn Dawn and Mitch McDonald. Amberly’s the fifth member of the top 10 and the dream ends here for Omar Lunan.
From Tuesday’s show, Mitch McDonald is through to the top 10 and Katelyn Dawn is going home. “It’s been an awesome experience. Too bad it has to end,” says Katelyn. “It’s been a ride. You guys are going to kill it,” says Omar.
The final results leave Adam Castelli and Marie-Pierre Bellerose from Monday’s show and both Pigott brothers from Tuesday’s show. Adam makes it to the top 10, with Marie-Pierre eliminated.
And the final spot will go to one of the two Pigott brothers. It’s a family affair. The final member of the top 10 is Sebastien, eliminating Oliver Pigott. “I want to say congratulations to everybody who made the top 10. They’re fantastic. I know I didn’t get enough votes to make it through to the top 10 but I wanted to thank Canada for voting for me,” says Oliver.
Next Monday, the top 10 will perform with songs from David Bowie’s collection at 8 p.m. EST on CTV.
