Canadian Idol Recap – Wednesday
In an effort to avoid boring viewers with dragged out results drama, the season’s first results show features all of the contestants performing group numbers. And tonight’s results have the girls dropping like flies.
Martin Kerr, Shaun Francisco, Lindsay Robins and Paul Clifford perform “Have You Ever See The Rain?” and Lindsay Barr and Adam Castelli perform “Midnight Hour.” Jessica Sheppard, Mookie Morris, Earl Stevenson and Mark Day perform “Old Time Rock And Roll.”
Katelyn Dawn, Jesse Cottam, Amberly Thiessen and Michael MacDonald sing “Yellow.” Performing “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” are Omar Lunan, Drew Wright and Gary Morisette.
Tetiana Ostapowych and the Pigott brothers, Sebastien and Oliver, sing “Fly Like An Eagle.” The last showcase number is Lisa Bell, Marie-Pierre Bellerose, Katherine St-Laurent and Theo Tams with “Imagine.”
Before Ben reveals the results, he asks the judges for their thoughts on the past week. “I think tonight showed what a spectacular group of people we managed to find. They’re amazing,” says Sass. “I think we have, without a doubt, the most remarkable talent group of people on the show. Regardless of how Canada votes, we’re going to have a ridiculously strong top ten,” says Zach.
Sparing no time with the results and eliminating a bottom three altogether, Ben announces that from Monday’s group, Tetiana Ostapowych and Lindsay Barr are going home. From Tuesday’s group, Lindsay Robins and Shaun Francisco are also eliminated. 14 men and 6 women remain in the competition.
We then hear the final words from the eliminated contestants. Tetiana says she would have kept her song choice even if she had known she was going to be eliminated. “What’s up, guys? Not enough votes?! Ouch!” says Lindsay Barr. “I had a fantastic time and everybody here is insanely talented,” says Lindsay Robins. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity and feel thankful to the judges for investing in me. I don’t feel by any means this is the end of the road,” says Shaun Francisco.
Now it’s down to 20. They’ll perform next Monday and Tuesday with results on Wednesday until the top 10 is finally revealed on Wednesday, July 9.
