Writer Sues ‘Hannah Montana’ Show
Buddy Sheffield wants a piece of the money pie from the hit TV show “Hannah Montana.”
Sheffield is claiming that the Disney Channel stole his idea for a sitcom about a normal kid who moonlights as a pop star, and turned the show into the successful series “Hannah Montana,” starring teen star Miley Cyrus.
The writer sued ABC Cable Networks Group back in August for breach of implied contract, breach of confidentiality and other unfair competition and unjust enrichment while the network has failed to provide documents detailing the proceeds from all the aspects of the Hannah Montana marketing brand.
If both sides fail to settle their differences in meditation, a trial has been set for late August.
