Heath Ledger Scholarship Unveiled
Heath Ledger’s memory will continue to live on.
The late actor’s relatives, friends and ex-fiancée Michelle Williams revealed the Heath Ledger Scholarship Fund at the AiF Breathrough Awards ceremony in Beverly Hills. The fund will provide financial aide for Australian actors struggling to break into Hollywood.
Although the amount of the award has yet to be finalized, the scholarship will cover the costs of acting classes and rent and will be given out annually starting in 2009.
Ledger’s father Kim, was unable to attend the event, but sent a note:
“We know that Heath would be proud of his attachment to this scholarship,” the elder Ledger wrote. “[It] does what Heath has done personally during the last 10 years…[supporting] Australian actors, singers, directors or writers who seek to supply their talents to the USA.”
Ledger died Jan 22 from an accidental overdose to prescription medicine.
