‘Life On Mars’ Lands In The U.S.
“Life On Mars,” the hit British series about a modern-day cop who is mysteriously transported back to the 1970s, is being remade for American TV.
“Ally McBeal” creator David E. Kelley penned a pilot episode after buying the rights to the show, and ABC has now picked up the time-bending police drama for the fall season.
Irish actor Jason O’Mara will play Sam Tyler, a policeman who is hit by a car and wakes up in 1973.
Unable to return to his own time, he resumes his job as a cop while dealing with various cultural clashes.
The original BBC program, starring John Simm in the lead role, won a Bafta last year and spawned a sequel called “Ashes to Ashes.”
