“The Vagina Monologues” has been banned from an Edmonton high school, after a complaint was launched about the potential production, cbc.ca reports.
A drama class was going to present the play to their students in the afternoon, and then to parents in the evening. The afternoon performance was cancelled, and students could only see the evening performance with the permission of their parents.
“It shouldn’t be an issue. Students should be able to see it — even if their parents disagree. Shouldn’t we be teaching our children to question and think for themselves? Isn’t that what schools all about?” student director Bonnie Ings told CBC News.
High school officials have to responded to interview requests about the incident.
