Matthew McConaughey has a big mustache to fill.

The actor has been offered the part of Magnum P.I. for a film version of the television hit show, the part that made Tom Selleck a household names, ew.com reports.

The site has no confirmation from the actor on the issue, but will only say they have confirmed McConaughey is reading the script and will decide whether he will accept soon.

Magnum P.I. centres around Thomas Magnum, a private detective who was a Navy Seal. It aired on television in the 1980s.
