Return to ER: Stat!
ER is hoping to go out with the bang it came in with in 1994.
It was expected this would be the final season of the long-running medical drama on NBC, but due to the strike earlier this year, the network has renewed the series for one final year.
The series’ executive producers, John Wells and David Zabel are hoping to get former stars of the series, like George Clooney and Julianna Margulies, to return for the big good-bye, ew.com reports.
“We want to revisit characters that have existed on the show over the years and say where they are now. We’d love to get them all back in some way, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to. But we’re gonna try,” Zabel said.
Noah Wyle is slated to return for four episodes next season as Dr. John Carter, while Goran Visnjic will return for a limited engagement as Dr. Kovac.
It’s a pretty safe bet that stars like Anthony Edwards (who played Mark Green) and Kellie Martin (who played medical student Lucy Knight) will not be returning as their characters were killed off.
“The toughest will be getting Tony Edwards because his character is dead,” admitted Zabel.
“That’s a little tricky, but there are ways to do it that we’ve thought about.”
