2008 is shaping up to be a better year for British songstress Amy Winehouse.

After a tumultuous 2007, Winehouse has started this year off with five Grammy awards, a serious attempt at sobriety by entering a drug-treatment program, and as luck would have it, Scotland Yard has decided to take no further action against the singer regarding an alleged witness-tampering incident.

Winehouse was arrested on December 18 for questioning in her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil’s court case involving allegations of attempting to pervert the course of justice. Police were investigating Winehouse’s supposed role in her husband’s charges.

AccordiIng to MTV News, the singer’s publicist issued a statement saying:
“Police have confirmed that she is no longer a suspect in the case after interviewing her in December. Amy is pleased to be discounted from the investigation and thanks the police for their professionalism in their dealings with her.”

Though Winehouse is in the clear, Fielder-Civil headed back to court Friday where he denied all charges laid against him.

Winehouse was not in attendance for the court hearing.
